Cliolords Valliams

P1010080.jpg Cliolord gives us the low down and the build up.

He explains to us why his Valliams, an iTB’d, cammed animal of a hybrid failed back in 2008 on the way to the French Car Show. There is more to come from the lord, with is CUP brid. But thats another story!

“I wascruising along the motorway at 70-80ish in 5th, fast lane.. the oil light comes on and pressure guage drops rapidly, switched vally off, into neutral and coasted to a stop, to be rescued by the AA. Fault to blame was the bevel gear which directs drive from the timing belt, along a shaft and down into the oil pump which sits in the sump. Due to the brutal’e oil pump relief spring setup, it was too much pressure to sustain and the gear gave up causing the same effect as if the oil pump itself just let go.
The strip down at my garage saw metal floating in the sump (from the bevel gear – which hadn’t been sucked into the oil pickup due to it’s major failure anyway) and the crank had started changing colour. The cylinder bore looked to be in good condition still, the piston’s & rings looked good and the mains/big ends hadn’t picked up. I thought sod it….Ordered through some over-siezed Wossner 12.5:1 high comp pistons & catcams con-rods through MR Stanley. Blocks been over-bored, cranks been re-ground & balanced (for future plans) with over-sized bearings.”

We have a huge ammount of picture content of an animal of a car. Enjoy!

“My friends daughter has helped in the build so far…”

“On fitting of oil pump, the first problem appeared. The dowel is missing for the oil pump so I had a fag and drove home LOL will continue work tomorrow ;)

A nice Cliolord quote from Clio16Valver:

“MAXIBOY wrote:

be nice to see a few pics..

what else are you doing while its apart..

shot peen and de stress the crank..

change all core plugs and chemical with them out..

i’ll think of a few more too if you want..

Mate, this isn’t a lady, this is a brutal slut that deserve’s a harsh routine! No core plug replacement (they look good, engines done less than 50K to date).”

“Got cracking on today. Ditched the pattern oil pump for a genuine pump, fettled with the sump, got it all ready for the head. Removed cams from head and inspected…All looks good. Oiled up ready to mate with block again :D

“Spark plugs, oil filter & crank seal turned up today. The reason I ordered the genuine spark plugs was due to the fact I remember the NKG BKR6EK patterns were longer than the factory spec items. They are infact quite abit longer and the pattern should be binned imo when running a high comp block. The following pictures show this FAIL product….” You can see why in our guides section..
